1Where do you live?

Tap your climate zone on the map, or enter your postcode.

Zones follow the National Construction Code climate zones, grouped into five lawn regions. Climate zone data provided by the Australian Building Codes Board under the CC BY 4.0 licence.

2What grass do you have?

Pick your climate zone first. Some grasses don't have a program in every zone.

Not sure what grass you have?
CouchFine, narrow leaves. Spreads by runners above and below ground. Turns straw-coloured in a cold winter. Loves full sun.
Low-input couchTifTuf and IronCutter. A couch that holds colour on less water and fertiliser, so its program uses lighter feeding than standard couch.
BuffaloBroad, flat, soft leaves on thick runners that sit on top of the soil. Handles some shade. Sir Walter and Palmetto are buffalo.
ZoysiaFine to medium leaves that feel stiff underfoot. Very dense and slow-growing. Empire and Nara are zoysia.
KikuyuWide, bright green, slightly hairy leaves. Thick, fast runners that climb into garden beds. Grows quickly in summer.
Blue CouchBlue-green, soft, hairy leaves. A Queensland favourite for warm, humid areas. Finer than kikuyu, coarser than couch.
Cool-seasonFine leaves in clumps with no runners. Stays green through winter, struggles in hot summers. Fescue, ryegrass and bluegrass.
